LinkedIn Live Video Will Finally Launch This Week

LinkedIn Live Video will be launched this week according to the social network with 600 million users globally.

Although LinkedIn is extremely late to the video party, this is their biggest play in recent times. The move to enable its users to broadcast live video will be ‘invite only’ initially and will begin rolling out in beta in the United States.

LinkedIn will soon post registration of interest form for others who want to be able to broadcast live.

Live broadcasting on social media until now has been dominated by platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter (Periscope), Twitch and Instagram.

Pete Davies, the director of product management at LinkedIn says: “Video is the fastest growing format on our platform right now, and the one most likely to get people talking.

“Live has been the most requested feature.”

LinkedIn says they’re putting a focus on interactive and timely live video streams on LinkedIn Live. The company provided examples such as AMA (Ask Me Anything) events or mentors giving their students advice.

Back in 2016, Microsoft purchased LinkedIn for more than $26 billion. The tech giant has mostly been hands-off with the business-oriented social network. However, according to TechCrunch, Microsoft’s Azure cloud media product will provide encoding services for LinkedIn Live.
